Arkansas Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) Opens November 1, 2015

New health insurance coverage options will soon be available for small businesses in Arkansas. The Arkansas Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) is designed to provide quality, affordable health insurance plans for small businesses with 2-100 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.

What you need to know right now

  • Arkansas is developing its own easy-to-use website and tools for small business owners to use to obtain private health insurance plans that fit their budgets and employees' needs.
  • Plans will be available for small businesses with 2-100 FTE employees.
  • Arkansas SHOP Open Enrollment begins November 1, 2015, for 2016 plan year coverage.

Individual Coverage

Special Enrollment Period Available Through October 31, 2015

Individuals who missed the open enrollment deadline may still be able to enroll in an affordable health insurance plan during the Special Enrollment Period.

The Special Enrollment Period is for individuals who have experienced a Qualifying Life Event in the past 60 days, including a change in marital status, employment or residence.

    • Qualifying individuals will be able to enroll in affordable health plans and receive financial assistance.
    • Learn more about Qualifying Life Events and view your Special Enrollment Period options at www.healthcare.gov/quick-guide/ or contact the Federal Call Center at (800) 318-2596. You may also contact Arkansas Insurance Department Consumer Services at (855) 283-3483.
  • Open Enrollment for individuals starts November 1, 2015, for coverage that begins January 1, 2016.
